Blower Door & Duct Testing
Exterior building enclosure leakage impacts our health and well-being. Gaps and cracks in the air barrier and surrounding connections of a home or building can cause several issues. They allow cold or warm air, moisture, and contaminants to enter. They allow cold or warm air, moisture, and contaminants to enter as well. That is why a blower door test is so critical to your process, whether you are building residential, multi-family, commercial, new construction or restoration/retrofits
A duct blaster combines a small fan and a pressure gauge to pressurize a house's duct system and accurately measure air leakage of the ductwork. This test is similiar to a pressure test of a plumbing system.
Duct testing involves sealing off an entire ventilation system and then pressurizing it in order to determine how airtight it is. The technicians determine how much air pressure is escaping from the ductwork and then trace down the locations.
A duct test is necessary to determine leaks, needed repairs, and/or renovations.
If a home is leaking air, those leaks can increase energy costs and create moisture condensation problems. A blower door test allows a homeowner to identify where those leaks are so that they can seal them and reduce energy costs for a home. Home energy professionals use a blower door as a diagnostic tool to determine how much air is entering or escaping from your home. Professional energy assessors use blower door tests to help determine a home's airtightness.
